David Wadsworth

David has over 40 years of experience representing clients in the domestic U.S. and international energy industry, both upstream and downstream. He was the long-time General Counsel of Maxus Energy Corporation. Following his time at Maxus, David returned to private practice including serving as counsel to Andrews Kurth (now Hunton Andrews Kurth). He has worked on a wide array of legal matters and with people at all levels – from the C Suite to rank and file employees of companies. In particular, David has advised on, negotiated and drafted contracts in connection with various energy transactions, corporate matters, acquisitions and divestments, restructuring matters, financing matters, product sales, employment matters and dispute resolution.

After receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, David graduated from South Texas College of Law (now South Texas College of Law – Houston) with a Doctor of Jurisprudence – cum laude. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
